The Government Media Office (GMO) in Gaza announced on Monday that the number of journalists martyred in the ongoing Israeli genocide has risen to 238, following the martyrdom of a sixth journalist in the Israeli airstrike near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, the Palestinian Information Center reported, citing GMO’s statement .
According to the statement, journalist Muhammad al-Khalidi, who worked with the Sahat platform, was martyred when Israeli occupation forces (IOF) bombed a journalists’ tent in the hospital’s vicinity.
Al-Khalidi became the sixth victim of the massacre, joining five other journalists martyred in the same attack: Al Jazeera correspondents Anas Al-Sharif and Muhammad Qariqa, photojournalists Ibrahim Zahir and Mu’min Aliwa, and their assistant Muhammad Nofal.
The GMO urged the international community, press freedom organizations, and media advocacy groups worldwide to condemn the killings, hold “Israel” accountable in international courts, and apply serious pressure to halt the ongoing genocide and protect journalists in Gaza.
