Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, on Monday released all 20 living Israeli captives in two batches as part of a deal to end the war in Gaza and facilitate a captive exchange.
In a statement, the group said: “Within the framework of the Al-Aqsa Flood prisoner exchange deal, the Martyr Izz El-Din Al-Qassam Brigades has decided to release the following living Zionist captives:”

The first seven Israeli captives were handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in northern Gaza. The second batch of 13 captives was released earlier the same day in southern Gaza and also handed over to the ICRC.
According to Al Jazeera, the captives have been in contact with their families and are reported to be in reasonable condition, able to walk without requiring medical assistance—unlike Palestinian detainees released from Israeli prisons, who are often in poor health amid reports of torture, mistreatment, and medical negligence.
On the other hand, Israeli authorities have released 2,000 Palestinian prisoners as part of the exchange deal. Among them, approximately 1,700 are originally from Gaza.
An additional 250 prisoners—who were serving life sentences or long-term sentences—are also being released under specific conditions. Of these:
135 will be deported to Gaza or exiled abroad, 100 are expected to be transferred to the occupied West Bank, and 15 will be released in occupied East Jerusalem.
