Red Crescent reports at least 555 casualties in Iran so far

The Iranian Red Crescent announced on Monday that 555 people have been killed in Iran since the start of the war. Iranian media reported that 35 people were killed in Fars province in southern Iran.

According to the Red Crescent’s Telegram post, the strikes targeted “131 cities and resulted in 555 deaths” since the war started.

Separately, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that the toll in Fars province is expected to rise “as enemy airstrikes continue.”

No immediate comment was made by US or Israeli officials regarding the figures released by Iranian authorities.

The US-Israeli offensive against Iran began three days ago, resulting in the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, along with several Iranian regime and military leaders.

On Sunday, Tasnim reported that seven Iranian military leaders, including the director of the Armed Forces General Command office, were killed in air raids.

Israel launched a new wave of attacks on Tehran on Sunday, while Iran responded with further rocket fire, a day after Khamenei’s death. These events have thrown the Middle East and the global economy into increased uncertainty.

The US-Israeli attacks and Iran’s retaliation have caused shockwaves across shipping, air travel, and oil markets, raising concerns about rising energy costs and disruption of business activity in the Gulf and a major global trade route.
