Yemeni President Mahdi al-Mashat welcomes signing of prisoner swap deal in Amman

President of the Supreme Political Council in Sana’a, Mahdi Al-Mashat, welcomed the signing of a prisoner exchange agreement that took place today in the Jordanian capital Amman, describing it as an “historic achievement” for prisoners and their families.

In telephone calls with Abdulqader al-Murtadha, head of the National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs, and Major General Yahya Abdullah al-Razami, commander of the Hamdan Axis, President al-Mashat expressed gratitude for their efforts in making the agreement successful.

President al-Mashat affirmed that Sana’a “has provided and continues to provide every facilitation” to fully resolve this humanitarian file and secure the release of all prisoners and detainees held by the US-Saudi aggression and its mercenaries—based on the principle of “all for all,” as agreed in the roadmap.

“We reassure the families of our dear prisoners that we place their suffering and the suffering of their sons at the forefront of our priorities, and that they will soon return, God willing,” he stated.

He also confirmed that the Supreme Political Council “has spared no effort in working to secure the release of all prisoners by every possible means until their liberation and safe return to their families and loved ones is achieved.”

For their part, Al-Murtadha and Al-Ruzami described today’s development as a “historic achievement,” resulting from continuous follow-up and directives from the leadership to conclude this humanitarian file.
