US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he believed the memorandum of understanding with Iran was over, after a new round of US strikes on Iranian sites triggered Iranian attacks on US military facilities in the Gulf.
Speaking alongside the NATO secretary-general ahead of an alliance summit in Ankara, Türkiye, Trump said he did not want to deal with Iranian leaders, adding that Washington had “wasted a lot of time” with Tehran and would not allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon.
His remarks came after US Central Command said American forces had launched strikes on more than 80 Iranian targets in response to Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
