An Israeli settler was killed and several others were wounded, including one critically, in a shooting attack carried out by a Palestinian on Sunday near the illegal Halamish settlement, built on Palestinian land west of Ramallah, Hebrew-language media reported.
According to the sources, a Palestinian opened fire from a vehicle with Palestinian license plates at settlers near a spring in the area before withdrawing from the scene.
The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that the perpetrator managed to escape with his weapon, raising concerns among Israelis about the possibility of another attack.
Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation army announced that it had deployed troops to the “Neve Tzuf” settlement following reports of the shooting.
The operation in the West Bank coincided with a massive incursion by more than 100,000 settlers into Al-Aqsa Mosque, where the holy site was desecrated by settlers and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Israeli occupation forces subsequently sent military reinforcements to the area and conducted extensive search operations, according to the sources.
