Five Katyusha rockets have targeted the vicinity of the Green Zone in the center of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, while the air defence system of the US embassy responded to them, an Iraqi security source said on Sunday night.
Alsumaria News Agency quoted a source as saying: “The vicinity of the Green Zone was targeted with five Katyusha rockets, and the air defence system was launched from inside the area.” The source did not mention any casualties.
The heavily fortified Green Zone in Baghdad includes government buildings and foreign diplomatic missions, and has recently been subjected to a series of missile attacks. The perpetrators of these launches remain unknown.
