An employee at Abyan University, which is under the control of the coalition, was subjected to an assassination attempt by a member of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions.
The university’s presidency confirmed in a statement that the an armed member of the Security Belt of the STC militias opened fire at the university’s bus driver, Yusri Lahtal, near al-Jahal tour in the center of Zinjibar district, the center of the province.
It explained that the shooting was due to verbal altercations happened between the driver and a member of the “security belt” over the bus stop.
The statement indicated that the university bus was hit by fire and its side window was shattered, so that the driver miraculously escaped the assassination.
